Frequently Asked Questions About TTouch®!

Barb working with Pogo
Is TTouch a form of massage?
No. It is a light, gentle method that influences the body's nervous system on a cellular level by simply moving the skin, not the muscles. The intent of TTouch is to activate the function of the cells and awaken cellular intelligence, like "turning on the electric lights of the body."
In a private session, will you teach me how I can do TTouch?
Absolutely! That is the point of having sessions … you learn TTouch so you are able to help your animal yourself.
Do I need a medical background to learn TTouch?
It is not necessary to understand anatomy to be successful in speeding up the healing of injuries or ailments, or changing undesirable habits or behavior.
How is TTouch different from other training methods?
TTouch takes animals beyond instinct so that they can learn, think and behave in a new way. They are taught to act, not re-act. TTouch helps to release tension and increase body awareness. This allows the animal to be handled without provoking typical fear responses. The animal can then more easily learn new and more appropriate behaviors. It also helps establish a deeper rapport between humans and animals through increased understanding and more effective communication.
I've heard that TTouch incorporates "wraps." Can you explain?
Ace bandages-or other soft, stretchy cloths-are used to wrap an animal. As the animal moves, the cloth moves on its body in a "non-habitual" way, which gives it new information. This enhances awareness of its body, which helps with confidence and focus.

What is the groundwork that you do?
Called a "Confidence Course" or "Playground of Higher Learning," leading the animal through the different obstacles and textures helps the animal learn to focus and achieve balance and coordination, which results in more confidence. When your pet attains confidence, it becomes a happier, more cooperative animal.
